Rose Parade Floats -- January 2, 2010

On Saturday we joined another family and took a drive to Pasadena, California to check out the floats that were in the 2010 Rose Parade. Though I really wish to have seen the floats with all the participants (like Jackie Chan) it was still amazing to see all those floats.

We started at Zankou Chicken down the road. Don't know if you've heard of Zankou's but it's supposed to be famous. The food which is Lebanese is amazing! Following our great meal of chicken, rice, humus, herbed onions, felafel's, pickled beets, and pita bread we headed off to Pasadena Community College to catch the bus to where the floats were on display. Though the wait was long it was well worth it. This is the first float you see when you entered at the Blue Gate.
This is Dee's favorite bird on all the floats. A phoenix or as Dee calls it "the Fire Phoenix."

Arc of the Covenant... Sweet!

The float for the winter games.

The scout law that was on the side of the awesome Boy Scout float.

The Boy Scout float. I couldn't fit the entire float in the camera screen so here is my favorite of the pictures I took. On the float was a representation of several activities that scouting groups do. In the parade were about 300 Eagle Scouts and Silver Award recipients. Some were carrying merit badges others flags. At the viewing there was a BSA Adventure Base 100 run by the San Gabriel Council. It had some fun things for the boys to do including a museum, penny smasher, and lashed together climbing rig.
Tired and footsore, we hopped a bus back to our car and headed home. A great experience!
