Yosemite National Park -- Day 1 and 2
This summer over Labor Day weekend we ventured up to Yosemite National Park. The first day was primarily travel and settling in to the rental house.
The second day saw us attempting to hit several sites. I say attempting because the park was so busy it took us over half an hour just to find a parking space by Curry Village. So, yes, tourists were out in force.

Here we are by the entrance sign at the west gate. It would take about 5 to 10 minutes to get up to the gates and another 20 to 30 minutes to get to Curry Village on the valley floor to park.

First stop was Bridal Veil Falls. The water was actually moving over the falls pretty sparsely. According to the guide it had been much bigger and more dangerous at the beginning of the summer. Again, it was excessively crowded and the only way of getting a picture was to stand on a rock and look up.

One of our stops was at the Ahwahnee Hotel. Check out one of the fireplaces! It was tall enough for a short person to stand in.

A beautiful picture of El Capitan.

Grandfather and grandson sitting outside the Ansel Adams studio waiting for everyone else.

On the way out of the park we pulled off at one of the roadside stops to take a few breathtaking pictures. This is what the terrain looks like pretty much throughout the drive.

Our future photographer! He took some really great pictures some of which turned out better than ours.
